An eventful day!

Today has been an eventful day.  Last night I picked up a shift at the hospital to help out.  I didn't get home til 1am.  I was hoping for a calm morning, boy was I wrong!

It wasn't a bad morning, but a fun morning!  We pretty much had a dance party all morning!  The girls hate the television, which I have stated in the past, but today Sesame street was a musical episode (probably my favorite episode!), instead of them watching it for only 5 minutes, they watched it for 10 minutes! After that we listened to the radio and some of their C.D's and danced til lunch time!

I was so tired from work and from not getting a good night's rest that I was hoping I could lay down after I cleaned the kitchen up from lunch.  Well, I was wrong.  Harly only took an hour nap (I dislike pooping during nap time!) and I couldn't get her to go back to sleep. So we hung out until Zoey got up from her 3 hour nap!

I made chicken quesadillas for dinner tonight.  The girls have been getting over being sick, so their systems have been all out of whack.  I hid some spinach in their quesadillas to help them out (they are not big fans of spinach, but they had no idea! such a sneaky mommy!)

After dinner, we took a ride to the outlets (daddy was going to be late tonight).  I figured that if I was going to get out of the house this winter, I guess I should start practicing (the girls hate being inside all day).  I had them strapped to me, but once they figured out where we were and that the duckies were here, they were trying to climb off me.  I knew I needed to have ground rules, and that I need to follow through with them.  Since I have two the same age, I can't be chasing them in two different directions.  They need to learn to stay by each other and mommy.  They are their own buddy system!  These are my rules:

*Have to hold mommy's hand the entire time when walking in public places. (will be rare, I will either have the stroller or have the wrap and carrier and attach them to me. (yes one on front, and one on back)
*Teach them to always stay by each other and together (that will probably take a couple years til they understand)
* If they refused to hold my hand or throw a tantrum, then I would carry them or put them back in the stroller.

* I am debating over getting them those backpacks with harnesses.  If anyone has suggestions on this, it would be greatly appreciated.  there is so much debate over this, I don't know what do to.

I am lucky that they are very good listeners, they did so good today.  Zoey, my little pistol, just likes to test mommy out!  But she knew today, mommy was not playing around.

We fed the ducks some crackers and they were so excited!  Next to us, were 17month old boy/girl twins.  They were so cute.  All four of them were chatting together in baby language, while their dad and I talked about raising twins!  The girls were flirting with the little boy. Oh, I am in sooo much trouble!!

15 month checkup!

Yesterday we went to the doctors.  It was a good day there, no one was in the waiting room and we were called in while I was still paying the copay!  Once we got in to the room and got weighed, and measured, the girls pediatrician was already in and ready to go!

With their age uncorrected they are falling in the 30th percentile!

They got 2 shots and did so well!!  I am so proud of them!

Then today came and Harly is sick. I feel so bad for her.  She has a runny nose and a fever, but has been so happy all day!  As I am typing this, Zoey is stirring and does not sound very good.  I will probably have two sick babies by this weekend.  ( All you mommies with one baby, I envy you right now!!)  The only good thing is the girls are so good when they are sick, we have a lot of cuddle time together!

Five for Friday!

1.) the girls are dancing so much lately!  Now they shake their tushies and bounce their knees!  It cracks me up

2) utensils- They are getting better with them! 

3.) mommy got a night out with nani (my mom), cousins, and aunt!  It was so nice.  The girls got some daddy time and mommy got to spend time with adults, no baby talk!  We went and got some drinks, then saw "The Help",  great movie!

4.) The girls are pretending a lot more!  I watched them this week playing with their doggies and baby dolls, feeding them with a pretend spoon!

5.) Goofy, goofy, goofy!  The girls have been chasing each other around and laughing hysterically!  They now play hide and seek with each other and it is sooo cute!!

Cloth Diapering

I have always wanted to cloth diaper, but never thought I would until we found out we were having twins. When it was decided that I would be a stay at home mom, disposable diapers on one income just didn't seem possible.  Ian was not a big fan when I told him about it, but said if I really wanted to, I could.

When you first buy them, they are expensive, but you save money in the long run.  You use them til your children are potty trained and you will continue to use them with the other children you may have.  Also when you are done with them you can sell them back, yes I said sell them back.  You will get some money back and once again you save money!

When I started researching, it was expensive until I discovered a couple websites that always had sales, discontinued items, and clearances.  There were also blogs that always had giveaways.  I saved a lot of money by doing that.

We got a lot of disposables at our shower and when they were born.  We didn't start cloth diapering til they were six months old.  My husband loves it so much now (Thank goodness!).  We will do disposables when they have viruses and when we go out of town, but 95% of the time, we use cloth.  We really enjoy them!  They also get less diaper rashes, due to what the cloth diapers are made of that helps pull the pee away from their skin.

We have noticed that we saved a lot of money using these and they are super easy!

If your looking for inexpensive disposable diapers we use Target brand, they are cheap and work great.  We also use Target wipes (we have not tried cloth wipes yet, not sure if we want to or not yet).  I know a ton of families who use these too and love them.

Like the past post, we had a great weekend.  We had Ian's mom up for the weekend. It was very nice!  The past couple days the girls have been trying extra hard to communicate with us.  We just don't understand them!  Sunday night, harly was upset about something and trying to tell us.  She was literally yelling at us in babble, we couldn't help but smile at her because it was just so cute!  She did not like that though, and would yell louder!  Here are some pictures from this past weekend at the park!
